I LOVE my new Kayak!
5 Stars
I LOVE my new Kayak!
I just got back from my "maiden voyage" in this cute inflatable Kayak, and I had such a blast! It was very quick to inflate the kayak with the pump that came with it, however, I wasn't able to figure out how to use the pump nozzles to fit properly into the seat and the little triangle thing that goes in the bow so I had to blow it up by mouth; not easy with asthma. Someone wrote a review that the pump nozzles work for this but I couldn't figure it out at allThe kayak is super comfy but if you are taller than 5'4", then I suggest to get a bigger one, because my feet touched the end, and I am pretty short. There is not a lot of leg room and I was worried that if the kayak rolled my legs would be stuck in there like sausages in casings and not come out. I think next time I'll just rest my legs on top. Luckily though, it is very stable and I never felt at risk of tipping. It was a calm day with virtually no wind, and the lake I was in is very shallow so I felt pretty safe. I am a strong swimmer, but I was very worried that I'd get stuck inside if it tipped. I think this is more for children or skinny people, and I am not in that category. The included paddle was great and I was pleasantly surprised by how fast I could go, and how easy it was to use the paddle to steer. The mesh thing was great; I put my safety kit, myl bottled water, and the rope under the mesh. Next time I will bring a little cooler bag out with a snack and extra water, as I was super thirsty from the heat. Even though I paddled for an hour, it felt relaxing and easy and not at all hard.It was easy to get inside but harder to get out. I pulled my legs out of the kayak and just sort of rolled out, lol. This got water in the kayak which was hard to get out even when I held it upside down and shook it. I let it sit in the sun to dry.I had a very difficult time opening the valves to let the air out; a kind young man had to do it for me. Neither one of us could get the fin piece out, even after watching a video showing how to do it. So I just left it in. I didn't attempt to get all the air out, just enough to fold it in half and put it in my back seat, as I plan to go out again tomorrow.I swam for an hour and kayaked for an hour and had such a great time. My back is a little sore but that is not the kayak's fault; it's mine for being out of shape, lol. Maybe this will help.I would totally recommend this if you're short, and especially if you're short AND thin. I'm only one of those things, but it worked out well, lol.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little vessle
Reviewed in Canada on July 4, 2021
I bought this kayak as a fun little experiments to go explore the river next to my house, and ended up using it a lot more than I expected 10+ trips, as well as added a diy net at the back for extra storage. It has not sprained a leak yet. It inflates extremely easy with double-action pump, and is very rapid to set up as well as easy to transport. I also feel very safe on it, since there are so many inflated sections botom of seat, top of seat, top chamber, bottom chamber, foot bag).

The main inflation vents work flawlessly, and are very good. However, the inflation vents on the seat and dry bag are terrible little plugs just like you would find on a cheap beach ball; they are a pain to use.

Of course, since this is an inflatable kayak, it has very high winds, which means it moves around on the water a lot if there's any wind out, so you have to avoid windy days (pretty normal for kayaks in general).

My biggest complaint with this kayak, is about the top inflated section of the kayak. Because of the way the section is made, and where the inflation vent is placed, to deflate the kayak, all the air must pass through a thin section at one end of the kayak. This means that you cannot roll up the kayak from end-to-end to deflated it (because the section gets pinched) but must role around on it forever to try to get the air out enough to finally put it back in the bag. Moving the vent to a different part of the kayak, or giving a pump which is reversible are the only solutions I can think of for this problem.

The oar, is of acceptable quality for the over all price (I paid $140 CAD for this kayak kit in 2020) and works great. However it is a little bit on the short side.

Over all, for the price I paid, it allowed me to enjoy the river a lot more. I found longnose gar (which is rare here in Quebec), whitnessed catfhish matting, enjoyed the waves and streams, did some fishing, all for $160 with taxes. Definetly worth it. Plus, you can't beat the portability. Love it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its decent for the price

Forget about fitting your legs and feet where they are suppose to go, mind you Im not that big. 5'10 - 175lbs. Considering my legs aren't even that big, the hole is way too tight. Aside from that it was fun, easy to inflate, pretty straight forward. For the price its good it just gets annoying after a while always having your knees up or legs over the kayak where they arent suppose to be. Next season Im buying a hard shell

Just what I was after. Puts together very quick, without issue, pumps up very quickly and packs away just as easy.
Not built for speed, but once you get your rhythm, moves through the water very well. I love it! Will take it camping all the time.

When I found this kayak for about $80 I was hesitant to get it, but I love the water and thought this would be an affordable way for me to get out on the water. First off, the one I got is the newer one (green and blue like in the photo on the product). It came with the kayak (pretty small box), the ore and the pump. When I first got it I pumped it up and set in it inside the garage, I left it sitting there for a few days (essentially waiting for the weekend), this allowed me to ensure that it was not leaking. I took it out on the water (San Francisco Bay) and tested it out a little bit, I LOVED IT. I ordered another one for my Mom. The following weekend we took both out (into the Bay again) and went pretty far, about 4 miles out [quite a workout!] and then started to head back. It was a great trip and we had no problems (even stopped for lunch by tying the kayaks together and floating in the water). When we started heading back in the wind really picked up and we got wet, but the kayak held its course, it took some strength to paddle but the kayak never felt like it was in danger of flipping (and I had some waves that hit pretty hard and got me soaked!). We made it back with no problem and the kayak was in perfect condition.

The kayak was easy to setup and we actually keep it inflated in the garage (both stacked on top of each other with its chair slightly deflated and tucked inside the kayak) it has stayed inflated for weeks with no problems, I have found it more comfortable to leave the chair deflated a bit. The ore it came with is great and I have no problems using it (I did order some gloves, but that was primarily for the salt water). The pump looked puny, but actually pumped up the kayak super quick and with little effort, the handy little clear strip to show how much to inflate is useful and makes it easy to inflate it. The strings on top were great for keeping my stuff with me and I put some food in a a canvas bag and tucked it in there and it stayed in place.

The kayak is light enough where we can just walk it down from our house to the bay, we did drive it the first time, but it was a pain to get it in the car (I have a Ford Escape), I got it in but had to lower the back seats and push the front seat all the way forward. In the future I will deflate it slightly and fold it over in the back (especially now that I know how easy it is to inflate it).

We have had no problems with this and have found it to be super fun (although cover your thighs! or they will burn!!!). I am 5' 10" and about 180 pounds and my Mom is 5' 0" and about 120 pounds, she has a much easier time getting here legs in, I do have to tuck a little bit to get them in and keep my feet pointed outward, but it is not a problem, I actually found it quite comfortable to take my feet out and sit cross legged in calm waters.

I am looking forward to taking these up to Lake Tahoe when it gets warmer there and spending more weekends exploring the Bay (the ocean is a little rough, so I do not know if I would attempt it at this point). This was a great, affordable item for getting out and having fun!!!

I posted some photos of me and my Mom on it in the Bay.
