I'm giving this a 5 star because it does what it's meant to do, and it does it well. However that doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement. There isn't anything i dislike about this keyboard but there are things that other people might not like (which i'll explain later) and also things i think should be added to the next edition of this keyboard if/when they make it. The size of the keyboard is perfect, not too big because you probably don't want something bulky taking up table space. It may seem small at first and might feel like your fingers are cramped when typing but you're just used to a bigger keyboard. I found it a bit awkward at first but within 30 minutes i was typing on it just as fast as pretty much any other keyboard i've used. One thing i love is how comfortable this thing is when you're using it. The slightly curved keys give almost a rubbery feel and a nice *click* sound when they are pressed - and it feels really, really good. And although this thing is light, it's got a nice weight to it and it doesn't feel cheap at all. Another plus is the huge size of the multitouch-trackpad which also gives a satisfying click and feel when it's pressed. Also having another left-click button on the top left of the keyboard makes it amazing to hold the keyboard and move the mouse with one hand while clicking with the other. And on top of all that this thing is SPILL PROOF! No need to worry when you're clumsy friend spills his drink all over it because it'll clean up nice and easy.
Now like i said this keyboard isn't perfect yet. It's meant for use with a TV really, but if you plan to use it with a tablet or desktop you should know that although pretty much every key you'd want is there the keyboard is missing the home and end keys, which might be a problem for someone who plans to write a good amount of documents on this keyboard (i do a fair amount and haven't found this to be a big problem yet). Another thing that might annoy some people is that you have to press "Fn" before you can use the f1-f12 buttons, but this is a media keyboard meant for your tv and like me you're probably only using the f4/f5 buttons, but the media keys more.
Things i would like it to have in the future?
-Scroll bar on the trackpad. Right now it's kind of difficult to scroll with 2 fingers when you're holding the keyboard with 2 hands (but no other wireless keyboard has it yet so i can't complain)
-A light for the caps lock button because you can't tell when it's on (also no other wireless keyboards i've seen have this so i can't complain)
-A backlit keyboard. It's probably not there because it would take up too much battery or something and this thing is running on 2 AAAs
-Theres only 1 Ctrl button (on the left side) and 1 Fn button (on the right side). I wish they had one of each on each side but that would make this thing bigger so i can live without it because i love the size of it too much.
There is software you can download from microsoft to change the function of certain keys on this keyboard. Other people have loved being able to customize it but i'm fine with everything now, maybe i'll check it out in the future.
There are no cons about this thing that other "TV keyboard" manufacturer's have a solution for and because of that i cannot reduce it's stars. This thing looks absolutely beautiful and works really well. Overall 5 Stars!
For work, I prefer a track-pad over a mouse because of less wrist pain for me. This track-pad works better than the one on my laptop. I have had a few random letter entries but I am not sure what causes them yet. It may be that I bumped something along the way.
I saw a review that questioned the left click button found on the left side of some portable keyboards. It is actually a very handy feature if a person is holding the keyboard or resting it on their legs. Selecting with the left hand makes dragging something with the right hand possible without having to find something solid to set the keyboard on.
The con for me is that the "full size keyboard" is just slightly smaller than standard and is a bit cramped for my hands. Somebody with smaller hands may enjoy it. For entertainment use, it should work really well.
In the end, I probably will give up on using it for work because of the smallish keyboard and because random entries mess up spreadsheets. Not sure it would be worth the full price to me, but the sale price was great.
I am still hoping someone will design a desktop quality keyboard - like a comfort curve or something - with a decent track-pad built in. For me, wireless is not a necessity and backlit keys would be nice at times.
The keyboard I used before this one was a $30 Logitech USB keyboard, it was nice but it was limited in the area that I could use it. This keyboard is a dream come true for a lazy bastard like me.The track pad is well-built and the overall design is amazing! The keys are like laptop keys but feel a lot more sturdier. They also are curved unlike flat laptop keys.
If you want a classy, lightweight, and all-in-one wireless keyboard for a home entertainment PC, I think this is the best one you can get. The keys may be tight, and the arrow keys are awkward to use at first because standard keyboards have them farther to the right, but once you get used to these things again, it won't really be a problem. If you don't prefer that though, then I suggest you just get a standard keyboard. If you are unsure, I suggest you print out a near-life size version of this keyboard on a letter-size paper, the keys fit perfectly on that size (excluding the trackpad). Through this you'll be able to get a general idea of how how much typing space you have.
I also like to point out its minimalist design and matte finish, this gives the keyboard a really clean look (There are no rubber things and mechanical clutter in between the keys like other wireless keyboards). Along with a spill-proof feature, this makes it really easy to clean.
My wish for future versions: I do like the small design, but I wish It had the number pad even though it would make it a bit longer. This is only a personal preference though, as I use the number pad quite often. Also, if it were backlit with LEDS then that would be brilliant.
