It's small, lightweight and comfortable. I did buy other straps to make it more stylish, but ended up keeping the original for mine. The band passes the pull test (it will come off if snagged) so I can wear it to work. It can be a little stiff to lock in place the first time you put it on.
I had issues with getting the app installed and synced the first time. It doesn't work with certain phones and OS and nowhere is this listed on Amazon. Even on the Garmin help page it's buried pretty deep. I ended up finding a work around on a user forum, but Garmin's big solution was to tell me to buy more product and only use it on my desktop.
Syncing can also be an issue when you have two active devices linked to the same account. It does do an auto sync at a preset time, so it will sync eventually - just not always when you tell it to. As a standalone it's fine though - I never had an issue until I linked my running watch.
It's pretty sturdy and holds up well. As mentioned, I wear it to work and I've had it come off a few times (an indication of the abuse I put it through). Other than some scratches on the screen, it held up well.
It's comfortable enough to wear all the time and forget about it.
My biggest pet peeve is how easily the activity button is activated. I swear some times it just randomly starts it itself, not to mention every time I bump something or bend my wrist, or god forbid start carrying something. It's easy enough to erase the "activity" on the mobile app so it's more an annoyance than anything.
While tracking is limited, it seems fairly accurate. As there is no GPS, it estimates distance based on steps. It's usually within 5-10% of my GPS running watch.
Overall my daughter loves it. She likes to see the Firework when she reaches her goal. She wishes it could count stairs like on my Fenix. I like to be able to track her sleep hours.
I thought the Vivo 3 would be perfect for the purpose - roughly tracking of my daily activities and monitor my calories. I know this little device is not accurate but I am not an exercise fanatic and don't run at all (b/c of bad knee) and cycle only once in a long while. My exercise consists of walking, jumping on rebounder and exercising on elliptical. I don't care about accuracy, all I want to know is roughly how many active calories and total calories burned in a day to make sure I keep myself relatively fit and healthy.
However... other than on the fifth day of wearing it I had this rash on my wrist where I had the tracker, I noticed the tracker continued with counting calories burned after I took it off and the counting was faster than I had it on my wrist which made me think how exactly this tracker determines the # of calories burned ???!!! I also noticed that my rest calories never changed, always at 1525 everyday. The inaccuracy becomes a nonsense now.
Additionally I noticed for the same amount of time I am on the elliptical, the Vivo 3 shows only 50% of the calories burned compared to what detected by my Apple watch and the elliptical itself. Unfortunately, off it went back to Amazon - thank goodness Amazon has a great return policy.
