Battery: This uses a lithium battery, rather than the Ni-mh battery that the cheaper models have. Each charge lasts much longer. What I like most is you can put it on the charger whenever you like, whether the battery is at 1% or 99%. We take this ability for granted with most gadgets these days, but the basic model toothbrush would not hold a charge very well unless you fully drained the battery before recharging.
Pressure sensor: There is a big red indicator light at the top of the Pro 3000. It lights up brightly if you press the brush too hard onto your teeth. My whole life before this, I had been using too much force without realizing it! Now my teeth are cleaner, and I don't have to replace the brush heads so often anymore.
Variable speed: You can change the speed that the brush rotates at. One button press activates full speed. A second press reduces it to medium. A third press sets it to low, for sensitive gums. The fourth press shuts it off. Or at any point, you can press and hold the button to shut if off immediately. I normally just use full speed.
Bluetooth: There's an app you can use on your phone to connect to the toothbrush. I never tried it, honestly.
2-minute timer: After every 30 seconds, the brush motor will pulse slightly. And after 2 minutes, it will pulse even more. It's supposed to help you know to keep brushing until the full recommended duration, but I find it annoying. The pulsing effect is a bit more subtle on the Pro 3000 than it was on the old basic model. So there's that.
For the positives, it feels great. Maybe this is a standard across all electric toothbrushes vs. manual ones but when I'm done using this thing my choppers feel squeaky clean. It's easy to use, it's nice and light and it fits well in the hand. Another positive is the easy charging: there's no visible metal or "jacks" (for lack of a better term) on the bottom, you just kinda plop it into its charging "prong" and I think a magnet holds it in place. Easy. The last positive is the most surprising to me though; I'm one of those people who feels that we're way too connected and we've got a bunch of appliances in the house that have Bluetooth capabilities but absolutely do not need Bluetooth capabilities. The app for this toothbrush was a really pleasant surprise: a simple, circular timer, cut into quadrants to show you how much time you should be spending per quadrant of your mouth. Along with the timer, there's a news ticker at the bottom, which will feed me my local weather, news stories, and can be configured to display your own photos or videos or whatever while you're doing your thing. It's a dumb, pointless little thing, but at the same time I find it really helpful and it's unbelievably easy to use: connect it once, make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on, and the second you pull the brush off the charger it connects. Hit the power button and the timer starts. Zero messing around and a neat, clean idea.
Cons? It's loud as hell. I wasn't expecting this thing to be this loud but damn. It's not a dealbreaker, and it's not unbearable, but when this thing is in your closed mouth your entire head buzzes like it's full of bees. It's unpleasant and I wish it was quieter. The brush is also advertised to flash red if you're pushing too hard, which mine has never done ever (even when trying to do it on purpose to test it), and it vibrates when you've spent the recommended amount of time on one quadrant of your mouth. I wish that this feature was disabled while using the timer app, because as it is it's redundant and I just don't want it to do that: as it is I'll be focusing on the app, reading the news or whatever, and all of a sudden the brush is trying to vibrate out of my hand. Not optimal and I wish it didn't do that.
Overall though pretty minor gripes, and even if it has its unpleasant qualities I can't argue with the results: a clean-feeling mouth and the knowledge that I'm doing more for my poor little teeth than I was before. I feel like it was worth the price.

3000. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. Easier on and off as well as the timing indicator is much more evident as you brush.
Spend the extra, your teeth will feel clean, fresh and look wonderful.

And don't bother with the fancy models, unless you really need bluetooth and to connect your teeth cleaning to an app. Some people are into that, but I just don't have the need for it. Nor do I want my phone attached to my bathroom mirror with toothpaste and water splattered all over it. This one has the same power as the more expensive models, just without all the bells and whistles. It has the important features, though. I do appreciate the red light that comes on when I press too hard, but it can be a bit jarring early in the morning. I think it would be a better feature if the brush head just slowed down a bit when you did that, because if you really like to brush hard, you can just ignore the red light or put tape over it. Or paint. It's pretty easy to get rid of that feature if you want to.
The one thing I would change is the on-off button -- I wish it were a slider button because sometimes you click it to turn off and it switches to the massage mode and you find yourself repeatedly pushing it to get it off -- all while your hands are wet and your mouth is full of toothpaste. But that's a small issue and I've gotten used to it, -- it would be an easy fix for future models.
On the cleaning of it, I remember how disgusting my Sonicare could sometimes get, but this one isn't nearly as bad. I find that if I wipe it off after each use, it keeps the brush and base cleaner. And since you are already drying your hands, just dry the brush off as well. Definitely better than the black grime that used to collect inside the old Sonicare heads.
I think this would also be a great brush if you share a unit as a family and just use different brush heads, because these smaller heads could work well for a child and you wouldn't have to buy them a separate brush.
Overall, this is a great toothbrush. The heads are easy to find and fairly cheap -- I got some at Target -- and it holds a charge for at least five days. That's the longest I've traveled with it, but it feels like it would definitely last longer because it wasn't running any weaker at the end of my trip as compared to the beginning. I do wish this one came with a travel case, but that's not a big things either. But plastic cases are not expensive and are so very helpful so I hope they all those to all their electric brushes. They could design one case to fit all their brushes.
Very happy with this purchase.
