Summary: The Neewer VK750 II leaves me wondering why I bothered to buy expensive brand name flashes in the past. For 1/6th the cost of a Nikon SB-700, the VK750 II offers a nearly identical flash in form, power and function. If you understand the limitations of this flash, it’ll save you a ton of money and you’ll be just as happy with it as you are with the name brand alternative.

Full Review:
::Build Quality & Appearance
The build quality of the VK750 II is acceptable. It is made of thick, solid plastic and has no flex or creaks. It looks and feels nearly identical to a Nikon flash, save for button placement. The only thing that I am concerned about is the battery door – the battery compartment is of questionable quality and feels flimsy. Be careful with it and it won’t break. The screen is handy and shows useful information such as aperture and ISO. The hotshoe screws down and drops a little pin to lock it in place.
::Features
The VK750 II has a few limitations that are worth noting. The manual mentions that the flash does not have High-Speed Sync, but I have found it to work. I have not been able to use this flash in commander mode with i-TTL, however it has worked as a manual slave and will trigger any other manual lights. Certain settings, like the sleep mode time-out, cannot be changed. Sleep mode will automatically disable itself when you half-press the shutter button, or when it detects a burst of light in slave mode. It has every other feature I can think of that I would ever need in a flash, including bounce/tilt, an 18-105mm zoom, and a diffuse shield. If you are fine with these limitations, you will love this flash.
::Power Output
The VK750 II blows my older SB-600 away, exceeds my SB-700, and is a little less than the SB-910. While the power output on the box is slightly overstated, it manages to outshine its name-brand competitors with the exception of the high end expensive SB-910, which is an astounding feat.
::Other Notes
The flash includes a cheap bag and a tripod adapter. It’s worth noting that the user manual for this flash is quite poorly translated, so it may take a few minutes to figure everything out.
::Conclusion
At 1/10th the cost of some high-end competitors, the VK750 II is a no brainer. The only reason to get the brand name flash instead of this is if you absolutely require high-speed sync or master wireless commander mode, and Neewer even has a flash that does that for just a little bit more. Even with some small downsides, the value of this flash is quite high and it functions extremely well even disregarding the low price. If you are okay with the limitations, buy it, you won’t regret it.

It has TTL, Manual, Strobe and two slave channels. The focal length goes from 18 to 180mm. When the diffuser is pulled out, the focal length changes automatically to 14mm.
The manual has some flaws, so double check with the flash in hand, in order to find the functions you want.
With a diffuser cap it works very well bouncing light through celing outside, giving a natural light for photos.
I am happy with it, and even more for the price. It compares head to head with the SB-700, but for a fraction of the price.
this flash DOES SUPPORT HSS, some reviews have said it doesn't. However, you are at the mercy of your camera, if your Camera maxes out at 1/320, then that's all you get. Your camera that has the final say. (Manual Shutter Cameras vs Digital Shutter Cameras, Digital Shuttle cameras will give you the 1/500, 1/1000, etc) I have a Nikon D7000, its max FP is 1/320.
I didn't get the model as advertised, I believe I got an older model as I have the green LCD and the model says Voking, not neewer. Not sure I care, but there isn't much out there about Voking so I'm a little confused...
The LCD is hard to see in light, it almost seems defective the writing is so light, probably why they upgrade the LCD with a blue backlight.
The infrared sensor is WAY OFF CENTER, not even close....I've heard many others say the same thing, not a huge deal unless you are using TTL, it can affect the camera making adjustment as it's not necessarily looking at the same thing your camera is. IE: if you meter on the persons head, and traditionally the infrared would match, you would be fine, but if you had a black background behind your subject, and your camera is focusing on their head, and the infrared is looking at 2/3 of the head and 1/3 of the black background you are going to get an incorrect TTL reading. Not a big deal if you are using manual mode. I view TTL as the 'walk around' who cares setting, you will get close and your pictures will be fine, but if you are doing something where you want that proper exposure you are going to use manual anyway, or at least you should be, TTL is no different than Auto Mode on your camera, its not always right. (however even if in TTL mode you can still adjust the flash, it's not like it's full auto and you can't do anything, you can)
The commander modes work very well, I was triggering the flash with my on board no problem, which is good in that you don't have to buy remote triggers for simple studio work.
The zoom is pretty noisy, but whatever, not a huge deal.
The recycle time as quoted in the description is not what the manual said, it says 3sec here, it's 4 sec in the manual, and it's close to that, but thats at full power and thats not a common usage anyway, it recycled great at lower powers with the cheapest of batteries.
The manual is bad, it will give the basics but you have to wonder how something like that gets written without proper editing/translation, but it does.
I went and bought a box of cheap batteries, CHEAP, and the flash is surprisingly effecient, I was getting quite a few flashes from .25 worth of batteries, now keep in mind, this is using the flash at around 1/8 or 1/16, etc. Better batteries means faster recycle time, but if your just messing around don't worry about it. You recycle is affected DRASTICALLY by the quality of your batteries, if you want fast recycle times all the time then you need a high MAh battery, if it's under a thousand don't bother, get the 2000 or greater.
The quality is good for now, we will see what happens after a few hundred ups and downs and side to sides, from the feel of it the internal components are plastic and no doubt the 'tightness' will dissipate, but that is a future issue as for now it's tight and feels solid. Tilts and swivels no problem, one thing I didn't think it did, but does, it will go 180 degrees backwards.
The built in diffuser is a little clumbsy, I've had the white reflector 'fall out' when using the diffuser, not all the way out, but enough that it altered the image.
The last comment is on the battery cover, I 'KNOW' this will be the first thing to break, it has too, it's flimsy plastic mount will break for sure. I cringe when I have to close the compartment.
For the money you can not go wrong, but like I said early it will only be with time that one knows for sure. If it lasted only a year I'd be a little upset but not much, if I get two years out of it I'll be satisfied, three or four, well thats just a darn good deal then :)
***One VERY COOL item of this flash is it displays the Aperture and ISO on the LCD, very very handy!
Good Shooting!

I will be shooting some portraits in four days, and will edit my review to reflect my opinion of this flash after seeing how well it performs.

Comparing options to cost, I believe this wins over my Nikon SB 800. This is simply an amazing deal, and I highly recommend this product, for $50 I would happily order one or two more to use as slave flashes for more complex photo shoots.
I have included several high quality photos to try and do this item justice, I am very happy with my purchase, and i am pretty sure you will be as well.
This item requires four AA batteries, so make you purchase some.
